This production, co-produced by TV3-Televisió de Catalunya, Distinto Films, Zenit TV and Tito Clint Movies was nominated for the Golden Nymph Award at the prestigious Monte-Carlo Television Festival.

"Xirgu" was selected from among 60 productions from 30 countries around the world, as one of the 6 nominees for Best Long Fiction Program as well as for Outstanding Actress in a Long Fiction Program.

"Xirgu" tells the story of a revered actress, Margarita Xirgu, and is set in Spain in 1927 just when a new theatrical work by Federico García Lorca was on the verge of opening, against the will of the Franco regime. Despite the strong resistance, this actress fought tooth and nail to see that the work would finally reach the stage.
