By sheer fluke some drops of sap from a rubber tree fall into a coconut husk Mowgli has been playing with. The result is that Mowgli finds himself the proud owner of a rubber ball. Mowgli is extremely possessive of this rubber ball, upsetting Bala and Lali with his arrogance. He fails to see Shere Kahn prowling around and is shocked when Kahn confronts him. Kahn's pawgets stuck in the ball but he is undeterred and continues to go after Mowgli. Bala comes to the rescue, and throws the ball into the tiger's mouth. Mowgli, Bala and Lali leave the tiger to his own devices and return to the Friendly Area, where Mowgli thanks Bala for saving his life and in turn the cubs forgive Mowgli for his selfishness.
