SEVERE GEOMAGNETIC STORM: Last night, auroras spread across the United States as far south as New Mexico. Some skywatchers also saw a luminous ribbon named "STEVE," which is not an aurora. https://t.co/IcDkOotBzE

Spectacular filament eruption from a quiescent region (no sunspots). This amounted to C3.1 in GOES class, a long duration event. The CME was directed mostly northward, probably not Earth-directed. pic.twitter.com/Ie7bF65gZO

Geomagnetic storm watches are now in effect for 23-25 Mar, primarily as a result of anticipated CH HSS effects, although glancing influence from a passing CME is also possible late on 23 March. Visit https://t.co/YLUbTRMxS6 for the latest information and forecasts. pic.twitter.com/V0Mdipmdoi
