For generations, on this cube-shaped planet, people have walked unquestioningly under Griffin's orders, to remain on the cube's top side (the horizontal one). Because, if they stop walking, they will fall into the galactic void. A handful of inhabitants has rebelled against this fate and struggle to reach Gehom, the land surveyor whose exploration of the planet's many sides caused it to start rotating artificially.
