The Magic of Dialogue

A portrait of Basque society one year after ETA's announcement to end its armed struggle.

It is a documentary on dialogue as a mediation tool to draw even the most extreme positions closer together. Among the protagonists are two victims of terrorism and an ETA member who has spent over 18 years in prison for having caused bloodshed. Different political groups have opposing opinions with each side presenting its views as fact, but there is little dialogue among them. This documentary tries to break the communication block by bringing six individuals together in the Zabalaga farmhouse of the Chillida Museum to reflect on the past and future of Basque society. They give their personal accounts and listen and respond to each other, and then, when least expected, the magic occurs, the magic of dialogue.
