The Dalí Dimension

A Genius' Obsession with Science

Dalí's work is a reflection of some of the principal 20th-century scientific discoveries: psychoanalysis, the theory of relativity, splitting the atom and quantum mechanics, the discovery of DNA, and more. Even his personal signature is directly influenced by a scientific image.

Dalí's obsession with science was linked with his focus on transcendence.  This painter, who never hid his fear of death, wished to create a work of genius that would allow him to live on in time. He used scientific language and concepts to move beyond the everyday physical world and explore new dimensions.

The documentary includes some rarely seen interviews in which Dalí expresses his passion for science, as well as images of Dalí in the company of various scientists.

James D. Watson, Ilya Prigogine and other scientists share thoughts about their contact with the artist and specialists in Dalí's work point out the scientific influences that are evident in certain of the painter's works.

"Dimensió Dalí" reveals an unknown side of one of the most renowned 20th-century artists and provides a new perspective on some of this artist's masterpieces.
