ETA, the last days

Startling statements

"I understand many people want to turn the page but before doing that, it should be actually read."

Maixabel Lasa.

"I'd make them suffer. I can't forgive them."

Maria Àngels Ribó

Putting an end to 60 years of terrorist activity, ETA, the Basque terrorist organization, has definitively dissolved, unilaterally and by means of issuing a partial pardon communication and calling a meeting at Cambo, France. The end of the conflict leaves 895 casualties between 1959 and 2018.

Some issues are yet to be resolved: moving prisoners to jails closer to their families, acknowledgement of the role of State terrorism and reconciliation.

The programme revisits the crime places and reconstructs some extreme tension episodes, seeking above all to be an intimate, personal reflection of those concerned.

Victims, relatives, politicians, negotiators and a former ETA member reflect about this tragic historical period and express freely their feelings, their opinion about the dissolution and also their concern about future open questions and opportunities.

"ETA, the last days" represents an intimate if also necessary vision from different angles. It puts forward, on equal grounds, the views of those involved from all sides, regardless of the circumstances suffered. A rigorous programme from the perspective acquired with the passing of time.

"ETA, the last days" is also a moving documentary which enables to perceive the great difficulties posed by a new start.
